It was August 2015, a lively summer night in downtown Athens, Georgia. Alec, entering his senior year at UGA, was with a group of friends at a bar called Moonshine. By happenstance, Courtney (entering her sophomore year) and her friend, Kate, walked into this same bar about an hour later. Alec happened to glance towards the entrance as Courtney walked in, and they both locked eyes from across the bar (cheesy, we know, but true). The night continued, and Courtney and Alec were happily introduced by Kate, who happened to have mutual friends with Alec. As they were being introduced, Courtney and Alec both remember thinking to themselves, ‘this was the person that I locked eyes with earlier in the night for a few moments longer than the social norm.’

From that first hello, there was an immediate attraction. Alec loved Courtney’s fun loving spirit, athleticism (him learning she was on the UGA track team), and sense of adventure. Alec knew there was something special about this girl, so he suggested venturing out to find another bar so they could continue the night together.

Not long after their first encounter, Courtney, knowing Alec was majoring in finance, would ask for his help with her accounting and economics homework. These study sessions at the library and coffee shops eventually led to ice cream dates on the north campus lawn, dinners downtown, Alec chasing Courtney through the running trails trying to keep up, nights out with friends, and many football games cheering on the Dawgs.

They took their next big step and moved to Atlanta to kickstart their careers. The amazing memories continued, and their bond and love grew stronger. Their journey then led them to New York City, where Courtney attended Parsons School of Design and Alec started a new job. Now, after years in NYC, Courtney and Alec have made some incredible memories together, including Central Park days with friends, eating their way through Manhattan, visiting museums, and traveling, which leads us to the best memory of all - their engagement.

On a beautiful day in Capri, Italy, Alec dropped down to one knee on a boat in front of the Faraglioni Rocks. The moment (a long time coming!) captured their love story, one filled with adventure, spontaneity, passion, and a mutual love for living in the moment.
